Zimbabwe Music Festival imparts health message to youth

The curtain has been lifted on Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe. Since its introduction in the year 1999, the Harare International Festival of the Arts brings in artists from throughout the continent. Still, this is not just an entertainment to the people of the country. Reproductive and sexual health becomes that centre of attraction in tracks performed by a bunch named “Safeguard Young People”.

The group is framed of 7 music artists from southern Africa. At the Harare International Festival of the Arts their tracks were all about how to gain knowledge of sexual wellness by adolescents as well as young people in the southern part of the continent.

One of the music artists of the group Zusi from Botswana told that this is all about a huge responsibility for them. A leading website reported that Zusi aid that for him, this is all about being able to use the vehicle which you are given – and that is music. With music, he has influence in his community, so whatever platform they have to use them positively.  He feel that they are responsible for these young people in their nations. They owe them more than just fickle or trivia entertainment.

The embers of the band told that the youngsters know regarding all the problems of early weddings, they want to heighten the awareness of sexual reproductive wellness and HIV and also increase contraceptive use by young people.

Glastonbury Fest responds anti-Kanye petition

Over 125000 people have signed a petition to call off Kanye West’s headlining act slot at the Glastonbury Festival this year that is traditionally a rock fest.

The petition in the Change.org described that “Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment. Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music. It added that he must listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving. It is time to prevent this musical injustice now.

Emily Eavis, the organizer of the festival, replying to the petition, defended the US rapper and their decision to bring Kanye at the fest. He told that she would not typically reply to this kind of criticism but due to the media attention that the petition has generated, she felt compelled to respond. Read more »

Lionel Richie confirmed for Glastonbury fest 2015

Lionel Richie’s name has been confirmed for the Glastonbury Festival 2015. It would be the very first UK festival gig of the singer’s career. Glastonbury Festival’s official Twitter page said: “We’re pleased to announce that @LionelRichie will make his first ever UK festival appearance at Glastonbury 2015!”

According to reports, Richie told that he is really very excited to play at the Glastonbury music festival next year as it is one of the most iconic fests in the world. The event has a magnificent history and the alumni of artists who have earlier played is really incredible. Therefore, he is honored to be a part of that.

He added that it would be a very special moment for him and he could not wait to share this with everyone. He could now say that he is playing at Glastonbury. Reports suggest that Richie would play the Sunday afternoon space that was earlier taken by artists such as Paul Simon and Kenny Rogers.

In the 2014 fest, Dolly Parton took the spot attracting a huge crowd to her space. Earlier Lionel Richie stated that he finds fest crowds just fascinating, because it is wild, loose and loud. The ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ star also declared that he is bringing the All The Hits All Night Long tour to United Kingdom and Ireland for eleven dates.
