Glastonbury Fest responds anti-Kanye petition

Over 125000 people have signed a petition to call off Kanye West’s headlining act slot at the Glastonbury Festival this year that is traditionally a rock fest.

The petition in the Change.org described that “Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment. Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music. It added that he must listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving. It is time to prevent this musical injustice now.

Emily Eavis, the organizer of the festival, replying to the petition, defended the US rapper and their decision to bring Kanye at the fest. He told that she would not typically reply to this kind of criticism but due to the media attention that the petition has generated, she felt compelled to respond.

In a leading UK based newspaper, Emily said that she believes that the story must not be why Kanye is coming; instead it must be how amazing is that he is coming. He is one of the world’s biggest superstars and a music legend, always interesting, never boring. The Us rapper has agreed to come a fest where headliners get paid a fraction of their normal rate in support of Oxfam, Greenpeace and Water Aid as well as thousands of other worthy reasons. They believe that pretty great.
